When Mia Stegner adopted Cléo on a gorgeous autumn day 2021, the two of them had no idea that they'd be launching a company mere weeks later. But between Mia's background as a singer-songwriter with a film degree, and Cléo's determination and passion for the arts, it was meant to be.
Mia has always been drawn to the intersections of music and video. After working with a few sync agents and learning more about music licensing, she became intrigued by the possibility of doing more of the work herself. This interest was further kindled by watching Cléo pay attention to the TV and purr at great music. Often, Cléo will even turn to Mia and say something like, "wow, this scene could really use a heartfelt indie pop ballad" or "oh my goodness, wouldn't this song be fantastic for the trailer of an indie dramedy." We're still not sure what's most astounding - Cléo's ability to talk, or her impeccable judgment and unmatched passion for achieving the perfect harmony between visuals and soundscapes.
In addition to a growing interest in sync, Mia has been working as a self-employed freelance songwriter since 2018, and she's seen the pros and cons of various freelance platforms. This is why Cléo's Collective is not only a music licensing company, but also a catalog of freelancers offering creative services. We hope to be a place where clients and collaborators can find emerging talent and connect with them directly, without having to choose between working through a flawed system or scouring through individual artists' websites one at a time.
We're beyond excited to grow as a community, and we're so happy you're here. :)
